This project explores responsibility within interpersonal relationships and questions how it can be experienced beyond the boundaries of a physical object. Rather than materialising the topic directly, the project creates a space in which responsibility can be discussed, negotiated, and experienced collectively.

Starting from the often unequal distribution of responsibility in heterosexual relationships the project focuses on creating a space for cisgender men to reflect on their own understanding and experience of responsibility. Conversation and wet felting form the basis of this shared process.
In the accompanying book, responsibility is conceptualised as a surface: an individual area that each person must explore in order to understand where and how they can actively take responsibility. Wet felting serves as a tactile translation of this process. Through working the material, an individual “responsibility surface” gradually takes shape.

Four men were invited to participate in the session. Each participant received one step of the felting process in advance, together with a question related to responsibility. During the session, each person was responsible for holding the space, introducing their step to the group, and initiating a discussion around their question. The process resulted in individual felted responsibility surfaces while creating a setting for the exchange of personal experiences, perspectives, and opinions.

The book documents the current state of the project rather than presenting it as a finished concept.
